Enhanced Bail Supervision – School Pilot Program Scrapped!

The APF applauds the decision announced by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, the Honourable Ben Carroll, to discontinue the pilot program that placed repeat offenders on bail in mainstream schools with ankle monitoring devices.

This decision reflects a strong stance by the Education Minister and a pragmatic approach that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.

The APF now looks forward to collaborating and consulting with the Departments of Education and Justice respectively, to explore alternative settings and wholistic programs that support youth offenders through rehabilitation and reintegration into education and society.
